    Q) Where do I find information on each medical school curriculum?

    Q) How can I find out about other undergraduate teaching opportunities?

    If you are a UU tutor, you will be emailed about opportunities such as OSCE examiner.

    For GPs working in Practices interested in hosting medical student placements across Years 1-5: We will be seeking to recruit various undergraduate GP Practice placements for our students across Years 1-5 for academic year 2026-2027 during Autumn 2025. Please complete the ‘contact us’ form on this page to ensure that both QUB and UU hold up to date contact details for your Practice so that you can be part of this process.

    For GPs interested in becoming an OSCE examiner: Please contact QUB’s Progress and Assessment team on pao_examiners@qub.ac.uk to register your interest in training to become an examiner across years 1-5.    

    For GPs interested in other teaching opportunities: Please see the Centre for Medical Education website– QUB does not currently have any vacancies for teaching within the University (for example in clinical or communication skills) but an upcoming ‘Expression of Interest in Teaching opportunities’ form where you will be able to register your interest should any openings arise in the future will be available on 

    Q) How do I make a SUMDE claim or check if payment has been made?

    When you become a teaching practice you are asked to complete a SLA and this provides the agreement for payment.

    The medical school forwards information to the SUMDE office after each student placement to allow payment to be made.

    If you are unsure if a payment has been received you should check your quarterly BSO practice statement.

    Q) Who do I contact if GP to deliver teaching is off sick?

    Q) What CPD do I need to complete to continue as a GP tutor (maintain recognition)?

    You should attend the annual tutor update for the relevant medical school

    You should complete Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training every 3 years – https://app.medall.org/c/ed-i-for-educators

     

    Q) How do I get a CP2A for my role as a GP tutor?

    Please refer to our Quality Assurance page under Current Practice for information regarding CP2a form request.

    You only need a CP2A if you are a named tutor for undergraduate teaching (occasional “in practice” teaching does not require a CP2A)

    There is no limit to the number of CP2As that can be issued within a GP practice

     

    Q) Do medical students have indemnity?

    All medical students have indemnity cover from a recognised medical indemnity provider in the UK.

    The GP practice should advise their practice indemnity provider that they host medical students. The Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the medical school and the practice includes a section on Insurance for further guidance.
