Queen’s University Belfast has recently appointed 8 GP Placement Community Module Leads (CMLs).
The CMLs will be enhancing students’ clinical placement learning in General Practice for years 3,4 and 5. They will be delivering sessions (case and theme-based learning) linked to the QUB clinical curriculum to small groups of students based across different Practices. They will be working with the QUB GP Academic Team and GP Sub Deanery colleagues to ensure students receive suitable orientation and inductions to GP Placements and are aware of expectations on either side. Additionally, they will encourage student engagement with their placements, and learning activities captured within the MyProgress platform. Other aspects of the roles will include supporting any students identified as under-performing/in need of support and ensuring that they receive appropriate mentoring/pastoral care.
The CML roles will enable some harmonisation – and shared learning across different Practice settings. The enthusiasm, experience, and skills the CMLs bring to the role will be of great benefit to students and GP colleagues alike.
